i can almost hear the kookaburra
i'm experiencing sensory input from my feet and eyes that remind me of australia. the early morning sun has been peeking through my blinds for the last hour while i play on my computer and ignore my frigid feet. the very few times i did any school work while on the gold coast i would just pull an all-nighter and then head to the bus so i could travel north for an hour and a half to campus to turn in the paper/take the test. but now i'm in boulder. and i go to school more. and it's not pass/fail.
nothing major, just an association. probably b/c this is the first time i've stayed awake the entire night since i've been back. wow, means i had a surprisingly procrastination-free fall semester...nice.
time for a shower. need to re-energize and rid myself of the gaiam cardio burn yoga workout residue from 4:15am this morning. maybe, do a little bit of my mellow yoga dvd before showering, stretching is always good.

i REALLY want this jacket [the fur part of the hood is detachable...so obviously i would take that option]
north face and american apparel are my weakness. the benefits of a long, black coat like this include fully covering a dress when i go out and this is also winterproof sooooo, perfect for colorado winters.
my credit card might hate me in 24 hrs.

shnouggar
i miss it. in some ways. in many ways. some ways i don't. maybe i just miss being more social? but, i'd like to be social with current/new kiddos and one or two ex-members of my piratey crew.
excited for dancing at beta on friday!! new outfit from american apparel and new shoes will hopefully arrive before so i can gussy it up black-dress-/green-tights-/biker-boots-style.
mmm, i'm craving juice.

what does bowling mean?
hypothetical situation #1:
male friend from class [previously strangers before the semester began] asks a female if she wants to go bowling this weekend. is the bowling intended as a hang out or a date? female is actually dating another female but has a stereotypically "straight" appearance. female has dropped the word, "girlfriend", into a prior conversation two weeks ago. male also permeated questionable body odor last week.
exchanged numbers and was not until female was in her next class she realized the possibly problematic intentions of male. female is expected to call him on saturday. texting is a no go as male's phone screen is broken.
female is awkward.

two steps back
my trust...academically...solely belongs to physics as of the last 24 hours. physics is dependable, it's an equation with an answer. it's a calculator and a graph. it's dependable. other current educational pursuits prove questionable: 1) self and consciousness=plato and socrates, at best, mildly confuse me. the answer to, "who am i?", can presently be best explained as me [metaphorically...] lying in bed and responding with a grunt and middle finger. very immature i know. 2) psychology of perception=i hate statistics! i'm extremely grumpy that i left my jump drive in the classroom and so was unable to write my lab report last night. i'm over psych classes. i feel burnt out. i feel inadequate. 3)environmental ethics=ethics?!?!, please, let's not even go there.
so yes, physics is simple. physics is my favorite. physics requires absolutely zero personal input.
i need a shower. i think it's been 5 days. i need more chocolate pudding, i just nommed the last one.
but, alas. the mountains were beautiful this weekend. all is well. smiles all round. :)

cable tv and youtube eff my g.p.a.
last week i finally bought a) a long enough cable cord that will actually reach my tv and b) a cable splitter so i can have both internet and cable. now i can watch such quality channels as bravo and food...and shows where the following quotes are frequently uttered:
"shut it down/that's bananas/i die [make 'die' two syllables]"
"make it work/designers [overemphasize the first syllable]"
"make it bigger, make it better, make it awesome"
"giggidy-giggidy-goo"
and, this weekend i was introduced to the oh-so-fabulous 'auto tune the news'. search it on youtube, you will not be disappointed. my favorite has to be #8 because of "i have a chart, he has a chart, i have a chart, a dragon chart"
all i can say is...healthy, recreational-solitude therapy? ah well, here's to study buddies. and black coffee, not quite sure how black coffee has anything to do with this but it's nomlicious so it doesn't need a reason. hm, that reminds me, i need sugar. and chocolate cookies.

the owl in lab meeting
the lab, and lab meeting especially, is not something i will find myself missing in the years to come. that's not to say i haven't learned a lot and it won't help me in any way, it's just that research is not something i'm interested in...and this knowledge i can attribute to working in such a place. but one thing i shall always ponder on are the emotions of the plastic owl that has been placed on top of the chemistry building. assuming plastic owls have feelings. the constant debate and discussion of psychological terms and research papers that we as undergrads have no knowledge on creates the two hours on wednesday afternoons as a sort of daydream/confusion state. if i'm not resting my feet on the maroon cushioned chair in front of me and battling the ever-increasing weight of my eyelids i'm usually staring out the window and thinking about the existence of the forementioned owl. how efficient is it? i never see any other birds up there so i assume he is fulfilling his purpose, but then again, there aren't that many birds on campus. probably due to the fact that they can never land as over 3o,ooo people wander the many pathways and grass patches. [sidenote: raccoons are another story] but what about the owl? i don't even know what his face looks like, i only know the brown and dark red coloring of his back and faux feathers. is he happy up there? it must get terribly cold in the wind and snow. is he bored? he's been fixated to the same spot for at least three years but i don't think it's too presumptuous to believe that number is closer to twenty. i shall always wonder.
